WIG, originally an acronym for Warszawski Indeks Giełdowy (Warsaw Commodity Stock Exchange stock) is the oldest index for the Warsaw Stock Exchange. It was introduced in the number 1 options trading session on 16 April 1991. When of 21 July 2004, it measured changes of performance of stocks of 102 corporations.
